Week 2
The assignment
Collaboration
Weekly zine
This weeks assignment was to produce a plot-party focussing on working together, testable on our classmates. I decided to team up with my two fellow CMD students; Rick and Andy.

We decided to focus our plot-party on the following statement; I prefer working together on the same thing VS. I prefer division of labour and working independently, together.

We immediately started off with researching different types of collaboration tests. We figured that there is three types of collaboration; wanting to collaborate every single thing in your project, dividing labour and the middle, both collaborating and dividing labour.

We wanted to divide these three by using different shapes, circles for dividing and triangles for collabing. Circles will never fully fit together and triangles with indefinatly. As for the middle choice, either circles or triangles could be part of the plot party. We decided to make a board devided in these three choices, where these two shapes can be placed on.

After some thought we decided to make a sliding mechanism all in MDF. We figured we needed a slider, and make a small circle that fits exactly in this slider slot. Sadly the shapes fell out of these sliders. We adjusted that by also cutting out verticle shapes to hotglue on the back of the board. These kept the shapes in place of the slider.

We wanted to make the shapes a different color and were thinking about paint, but we came up with a far simpler idea; cutting the shapes out of paper!

Collaboration
During this week I worked together with Rick and Andy. We follow the same studies, so I have talked to them before.
I was a little sceptic about working together with these two, as it's sometimes hard to work together with people you have a click with.
In the end it worked out pretty fine - we didn't get too distracted and could really add to each-others knowledge.

What I noticed is when talking to Rick about my ideas of making stuff, he immediately understands what I mean and how to make it - this could come in handy in the upcoming projects.

As to the other classmates this week, we didn't really reach out to them for help. I did like to look around what the others we're doing for a little inspiration.
Weekly zine
Andy and I were the creators of the Zine. We asked everyone to hand them in and had the idea of making it as simple as it can be. We printed it out on the school printers in black and white.
As the cover we put a random image Andy once took on a school trip.

For my own zine I had the word expression. I wanted to make it a simple zine this time. I found this old picture of kids smiling at the camera, with loads of expression in their faces. What I like about this picture is that it's very staged. Back then it was expensive to make pictures so they put more effort in looking good and happy.
